Honey Bee Illustrations

Our kindergarten crew has been "busy as bees" working on their drafts of honey bees. As experts we want to make sure that we are looking closely at all the various parts of a honey bee. So far these are some of our third drafts.

Students have been learning an insect chant to aid in their understanding of the parts of a honey bee.

INSECT CHANT
(For all parts, students will echo the teacher.)
TEACHER: All insects!
STUDENTS: All insects!

TEACHER: Have 3 parts!
STUDENTS: Have 3 parts!

TEACHER: The head, the thorax, the abdomen!
STUDENTS: The head, the thorax, the abdomen!

TEACHER: The legs and wings are on the thorax! (clap)
STUDENTS: The legs and wings are on the thorax! (clap)

TEACHER: Six legs in all!
STUDENTS: Six legs in all!

TEACHER: And that's the way it is!
STUDENTS: And that's the way it is!
